    Banzai: The Great Teppanyaki Theater 

    A lot of buffet establishments had popped up around the metro for the last year and I have never seen and been to a very interactive and very unique concept of a buffet restaurant.

    When you enter the place, it will transport you magically to early 1900’s Tokyo. The Wooden walls and the lighted lanterns on the ceilings. The roof on every teppanyaki stations seemed to imitate downtown Tokyo.

    A small display can be seen by the teppanyaki grills showcasing ingredients that they shipped from Japan that they use on all the dishes they serve.

    And they have two Legit Japanese Chef serving you LEGIT! Japanese cuisine. How awesome can that be? You wouldn’t spend thousands to taste authentic Japanese cuisines. You just have to drive to MOA by the bay and visit BANZAI. 

    What I love about this Buffet restaurant is that everything is serve fresh to you, it wasn’t hanging around the warming trays being dugged up by other people. You order your food and you wait for a minute or so and it’s serve fresh on your table by a ninja.

    One awesome thing about this type of Buffet Restaurant is that you get to try everything they serve. Not unlike in those huge Buffet restaurants where they serve hundreds of dishes and you tend to over eat because you want to try everything. 

    How awesome and unique can that be, right? Cooked upon request and no warming. 

    This place is definitely one of the Best Buffet restaurant in the metro. Recommending it to all those people graduating and looking for a place to treat their family and friends. Go try banzai out. Or even your Birthdays. This place won’t disappoint.

    NOW OPEN! AKIRA:  The art of Sushi and Teppanyaki 

    Probably one of the classiest Japanese restaurant I’ve been to. There were chairs specially designed by renowned furniture designer and interior designer Kevin Cobonpue. The interiors were filled with wooden panels stacked together to imitate woods or trees in the forest, leaves were also attached into a string as if the wind is blowing them. Your eyes would indeed be filled with wonderful stuff. Sit down on a red yoda chair  near the bar or relax on the llounges and at their Kawayan Too Chairs or even in front of the teppanyaki table. Every corner of the restaurant shares a different experience.

    We had the Mix Sushi plate. It was meticulously prepared and a feast for the senses. It was delicious, you’ll even think a Japanese chef had prepared it for you. Only problem I had with it is that it was too big to put in my mouth. Shows how generous they are by the serving.

    Then, the rolls. Each set looks perfectly articulated on the plate that you wouldn’t dare eat those yummy balls of rice and fish.The authenticity of real Japanese flavors were eminent on every bite I had.

    Then on we went to the teppanyaki table. A very skilled young Teppanyaki chef had showcased his skills in the teppanyaki table by demonstrating a small show while he prepares our food. I was amazed when he cracked the egg with his spatula, throwing the egg in the air then catching it in just in time for it to land in the middle of the spatula. Amazing!.

    As the night progressed, we ought to have some drinks and Akira serves the best cocktails I’ve ever tasted. I was so in love with their Mojito and their smooth smooth sake! Yamazaki Friday and Hakushu Saturday are also themes for their weekend nights where a DJ would play awesome music to dance and groove with. 

    Being new in the Corporate World and being a fresh graduate, I’m kinda lost as to where I would hang out in the Business District. Everyone seems so busy and rushing around to get to their offices or to get home. But I fiound comfort on those Kawayan Too Chairs and the rythimic Japanese music Akira plays. This is definitely an after-work venue.

    Ikkoryu Fukouka Ramen (SM AURA)

    IKKORFYU FUKUOKA RAMEN is a Tonkotsu ramen from Yamagoya Ramen of Japan, which has been around since 1970, specializing in Chikuho noodles.

    A few weeks ago I’ve tried out this awesome Ramen place in SM Aura which has a very cool and very homey interior. The whole place is surrounded with wood panels with a Japanese love story written all through out the whole 350+ panels.

    Anyway, I had the chance to taste their specialties and their best sellers. First, I tried their Gyoza. Not really a big fan of Gyoza because most of what I tried taste so bland and sometimes I cant taste the pork in it. But, their Gyoza is really good, I wouldn’t normally eat more than 1 gyoza and surprisingly I finished three.

    Gyoza. Crunchy outside but very juicy and delicious inside.

     AJITAMA TONKOTSU (P330) Ikkoryu original hearty Tonkotsu ramen garnished with Chashu, green onion, bamboo shoots, wood ear and dried seaweed. Topped with a special half-boiled egg that is fully marinated with a special blended soy sauce base. Add some ground sesame seeds and this meal would take you to a different place. 

    Even after I took gazillion of photos, the noodles didn’t get too soggy or too drenched in the soup. It was still al dente and chewy when it reached my mouth. I was slurping out the whole time because it was just so damn good! The Ajitama and Chasu really adds personality to the dish.

    Yuzu-Tama Tonkotsu (P 380). Flavored with yuzukosho, a local and traditional spice from the Kyushu region. A fermented paste blended with yuzu peel, a Japanese citrus, chili and salt, the yuzukosho provides intense flavors and some heat.

    Really Spicy and the flavor is just intense! (I mean it an a good way haha) This is our favorite out of all the Ramen I tasted in the restaurant or any other ramen places. Just by looking at the whole bowl itself, you know that this would taste really good. The broth has a very enticing aroma in it. I could go on forever on how good this Ramen is but I wont, I want you guys to try it out yourselves! Worth every cent, I swear!

    BLACK GARLIC TONKOTSU (P380). Tonkotsu soup mixed with special roast garlic oil. 

    Another best seller from Ikkoryu, the Roasted garlic aroma just wafts around the whole bowl which would just make you drool. I’m a big garlic lover and I really enjoyed eating this dish. It has a different depth of flavor, you’ll enjoy more of the nutty, roasted taste of the Gralic oil than the pork broth in this dish. Definitely a must try.

     Teriyaki Chicken Wings (P180) Really really good! Every bite is just a delight on your mouth. After eating three bowls of Ramen all you wanna do is just eat something fried.

    Macha Ice Cream, Sea Salt Caramel and Ice Cream Shiratama Zenzai. The desserts, a very nice way to end every meal is with desserts. And no one could ever go wrong with Ice Cream. Ikkoryu’s ICe Cream is really heavenly and delectable.

    Ryu Ramen and Curry.

    I’ve actually heard it from a very close friend who’s also a blogger and I was so excited to try it when I heard it from her. I love Japanese food, specially Curries. So, one day, we were bored and hungry we decided to pass by and see or taste what the fuss is all about in this place. And then I knew…

    TantanmenSpicy miso base broth with ground pork, soft boiled egg, negi, and garlic oil with 2 slices of chasyu. As I’ve heard, this was their house specialty so I ought to try it and it didn’t fail the rumors that I’ve heard. It was so good, every flavor was in balance, the mild sspiciness of the broth gave life to this dish. The noodles has a firm and smooth feel into it as you put it in your mouth. 

    Miso Butter Corn Ramen-Miso broth with sauteed vegetables, ground pork, special butter. My friend’s personal favorite but my least liked dish. It taste so regular for me. But for my friend, as she described it was light and the taste of the miso plus the butter goes really well together. 

    Beef Tendon Curry-Their curry rice served with soft beef tendons. This was my favorite, I ate most of it and shared only a few bites to my friends. Spicy yet it has a very subtle taste. The beef were indeed very tender and the sauce was enough for me. I swear I shared most of the beef with my friends and I just mixed the curry sauce with the rice and I was satisfied.


    Ebi Tempura-Prawns that have been battered and deep fried.

    Huge prawns! Very tasty and flavorful prawns! I didn’t know what their batter was made of but it definitely made the tempura very unique. Crunchy exterior but the prawns were cooked just right, soft and tender.

    I was actually surprised when I heard that Ryu Ramen and Curry is owned by celebrity couple Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez. Why? I don’t know, I was just surprised. LELS.
